01 May 2006 ACM Releases Globalization and Offshoring of Software Report

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Job Migration Task Force recently released a study to examine the issues surrounding the migration of jobs within the computing and information technology field and industry. Globalization and Offshoring of Software is the first comprehensive report about offshoring and outsourcing of IT jobs in the U.S. by a professional IT society.

The report answers general questions like “What is offshoring?” and “Where did it come from?” It also includes in-depth statistics and analysis regarding how much work is really offshored, which countries do most of this work, and what types of work are offshored.
